Modifying public views

Is it possible to edit/modify a public View that you did not create and save the changes? Or do you have to save it as a new view?

The program had a personnel change and the new admin is unable to save changes to a View used across the project, so I am looking to save changes to the view w/o having to create a new one (with a different name).

The DOORS Administrator can change permissions on a Public View or set to inherit as you desire.

A Public View provides the creator with RMCDA rights and everyone else with R only rights.

Only two users can change these rights - the user who created the Public View and the database Administrator super user.

So when you say that "....the new admin is unable to save changes..." is this "new admin" the true database Administrator super user? Or, is it someone who has been given the role of administering a project and perhaps only has Database Manager level powers?

Thanks for all your responses. I was referring to the projects Admin unaware that they were not the true database Admin super user. We were under the impression that when the project Admin was given privileges they had the same authority as the super admin. Thanks again for helping clear this up!

The notions of "public" and "private" views is not that useful. "Private" views provide RMCDA to the current user and "none" to "Everyone else"; public views provide "R" to "Everyone else". The normal view-as does not provide RMCDA to project nor database admins.

By policy then it seems reasonable that folks who save their own views must then Manage that view and provide the Project and the DB Admin groups full access.

Too bad you cannot specify useful access rights when you save-as a view.
